When I was young, when I was asked on what I would like to be when I grow up— my answer was always "To be a Flight Attendant". Oo, since Kinder, it was my consistent answer.
Here's a little trivia about me trying out as FA ::: During my last year in college, I did try to go to the screening of Cabin Crew for Saudia Airlines. Guess what, I passed! —Yes, you heard me right. Pumasa ako, underwent medical and all and was ready to fly to the Middle East to take the 6 months training! Yun nga lang, I just wasn't able to pursue it because I haven't graduated at that time. It was a very long story. It was also one of the hardest decisions that I ever made in my life because the dean from my university asked me to choose over being an undergrad—Flight Attendant or graduate with flying colors and receive my Diploma. To cut the story short, I did what I was suppose to do. I chose to finish college first and turned down the offer from Saudia.

Sayang — I know!
I never tried to go to any FA screenings after college since life already took me in different direction. I worked with the most reputable Hotels and Resorts in the country, got married, had a family and was able to put up a business with the support of my dear husband. But you know what, up until now, I still wonder what it would have been like if I pursued on being a flight attendant.
That's why when I had the opportunity to attend the ICATS 7th Anniversary event last week, I said yes right away. I would love to witness the joy of the people behind the leading Flight Attendant school in our country. They already have reached this far and I just couldn't imagine their happiness for this milestone.
ICATS BEGINNINGS AND MILESTONES
The International Cabin Attendant Training School (ICATS) has been successfully fulfilling new hopes by providing top-notch academic training for aspirants in the past few years. In celebration of its 7th founding anniversary, ICATS proudly reminisces its dynamic history while keeping motivated to meet the challenges of the future.
ICATS has been steadfast in its mission to meet the demands of the airline service industry by helping Filipino dreamers reach their highest potentials. It was established in 2009 by Princess Joy Garcia (CEO and co-founder), Arthuro de Leon and the late Armie Guiao.
In year 2010, ICATS launched its first batch with only 3 enrollees. But the team was not discouraged – the challenges they faced fired up their desire to succeed, with the next batches showing great potential for ICATS to soar higher.
The rapid increase of enrollees in 2014 required ICATS to transfer to a bigger venue with more classrooms.
“God was faithful to ICATS that in 2017, the school continued to expand its wings by moving to a more spacious venue to further accommodate the continuous rise of enrollees,” -Princess Joy Garcia.

What started as a noble dream for Princess and her team has transformed into a school – now one of the most reputable and fully-accredited professional training schools in the country. Through a modern curriculum and 30-day intensive course, ICATS has assisted graduates in their transition from flight school students to professional airline personnel via a job assistance program.
“ICATS believes that its success is the fruit of a team that works together with one mission, passion and vision. Every member has an integral role in the organization. Its people, who are experts in their own fields, are the wings behind ICATS’ success. The expansion emboldened the country's top flight attendant school to not only hire more people but also to serve more students in the hope that ICATS can change their lives for the betterment of their families,” said Princess.
To date, ICATS has provided the hospitality airline industry with more than 200 highly-trained graduates who now hold vital positions in prestigious local and international commercial airlines such as Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Oman Air, Fly Nas, Saudi Arabian Airlines Air Asia, among others.
ICATS launched the “ICATS Cabin Trainer” early this year. — ICATS Cabin Trainer is a mock room that is a replica of an aircraft’s Business and Economy class setting. This allows students to not only get an authentic feel of an aircraft's in-flight atmosphere, but also the chance to better educate themselves in their practical training, from aircraft familiarization and emergency procedures to in-flight services.
ICATS "PURPOSE-FILLED" 7TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY
The countdown leading to ICATS’ anniversary is meaningfully marked with special events that include community-giving and volunteer activities.
As led by Princess Joy Garcia, the ICATS family conducted a series of outreach visitations in seven charity institutions which includes Precious Heritage Children’s Home, Tahanang Balik Alay, Home for the Golden Gays, Creative Milestone Learning Center (School for Special Kids), Children’s Home of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Children’s Home of Eucharistic Love and Kindness, and Margaretha Home for the Blind.

This was followed by a Dedication and Worship Service held last April 5 at the ICATS campus in Tektite Building, Ortigas Center and a blood-letting donation conducted in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross (held on April 6).
ICATS 7th Founding Anniversary Grand Gala Night with the theme “Rejoicing Years of Passion, Advancing the Mission” concluded the celebration which was held last April 7 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
The ICATS founding family reconnected with students, faculty, partners, and former graduates. Among the anticipated activities was done that night. The ICATS Alumni Association, Inc. (ICATSAAI) was launched and oath-taking of officers who will be the school’s partners in various post-graduate services like the job placement assistance program. The outstanding contributions of ICATS’ exemplary employees were also recognized thru an awarding ceremony.
“It is both a privilege and honor to witness this milestone. Indeed, it is truly a dream come true for me, a journey that led to many more fulfilled dreams. As we celebrate this milestone, we will continue to shine and commit ourselves to professional excellence and leadership, all while remaining grounded on our best teaching practices and positivity-building philosophies,” Princess said.
Setting the stage for the years to come, ICATS is more than ready to conquer the skies and the world anew for those who are passionate in chasing bigger dreams and life-changing opportunities.
“The next chapter of ICATS’ history will be the most challenging and most exciting chapter yet. The school will continue to serve others and become a vessel of hope, especially to the young ones who are brimming with dreams to see the world. We will continue the mission; not only in developing trainees into becoming full-fledged flight attendants, but also in teaching them the true meaning of L.I.F.E. and that is Leadership, Integrity, Faith, and Excellence. And without the F, everything is just a LIE”.
