Ikkousha Ramen was launched last March 3, 2018 and is the first branch in Metro Manila. Ikkousha Festival Mall is just the second branch in the country, its pioneer branch in the Philippines is in Cebu. Hakata Ikkousha is the ramen franchise from Fukuoka, Japan.
Kousuke Yoshimura, Ikkousha's founder |
Ikkousha's founder, Kousuke Yoshimura graced the launch. He always wanted to create a place that would satisfy its customers with a delicious and comforting bowls of ramen. His continous dedication and his passion to creating Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen serves as the inspiration to every Ikkousha branch.
Also present at the much-awaited launch were Ikkousha Manila owners Marivic and Shigehiro Tomoda as well as other Ikkousha international representatives, suppliers, and members of the media.
The word Ikkousha means One Happy Place in English. |
Ikkousha's authentic Hakata ramen |
Everyone can expect an authentic Hakata ramen which is a Tonkotsu broth that are always prepared meticulously out of pork bones and cartilage which have been simmered for hours. The long simmering hours gives Hakata ramen its unique, identifiable flavor which has a creamy and rich consistency. The noodles are not just your ordinary noodles because it is made and produced in their own factory which brings flavor from the broth each time you bite. Each bowl of ramen is topped with carefully seasoned and tender slices of cha-shu (braised pork).
On the side, you can also order Gyoza and Karage. |
The ramen comes in several varieties:
Classic tonkotsu
Tonkotsu black ~which has mayu (black garlic oil) for a more intense flavor
God Fire~ the spicy variant that comes in four spice levels
Shio tonkotsu ~ combination of tonkotsu and shio (salt) broth for a lighter-bodied soup base
Me and my friend Dhess who blogs at thekitchenmombydhess.com tried the Special Shio Tonkotsu (Php450.00) + Gyoza and Karage.
I swear — my ramen cravings got satisfied! It's a must try.
