I was in Commercenter 2 weeks ago and met a handful of future entrepreneurs in action. They are the aspiring kiddos at the Kiddiepreneur Expo which was recently organized at Commercenter Alabang where the kids showcased their self-made products last July 28 and 29, 2018 dubbed as Biz Kids Expo!
The Biz Kids Expo is a one-of-a-kind marketplace that brought together products, wares, and services that have either been carefully crafted or sourced out by young entrepreneurs.
More than just a venue to sell and showcase their merchandise, the expo aimed to encourage the spirit of innovation, as well as share the value of entrepreneurship and responsible financing to children as young as five to 12 years old.
I have to commend Commercenter Alabang for putting up this kind of activity for the kids!
You ask why? Because similar to setting up an actual business, the participating kids at the Biz Kids expo were selected based on their project proposals, the uniqueness of their product/s, and product presentation.
Kid entrepreneurs were taught how to cost products and compute for revenue using basic mental math techniques and an abacus in collaboration with CMA Mental Arithmetic.
The La Vie Institute, on the other hand, trained kids on how to present themselves to prospective customers, and initiate good customer interaction.
And to further encourage participants, Commercenter provided the exhibit venue for free to all Biz Kids participants. This enabled young business owners to keep all the proceeds of their sales, which they can then use for future business ventures. Isn't that such an amazing initiative!
Exceptional Biz Kids entrepreneurs were given awards on the last day of the fair. Here are the awardees in no particular order:
• Most Innovative Biz: KiddiEssentials
• Crowd Favorite: Sweet Stop
• Most Creative Marketer: Little Ladies VCK
• Best Booth Design: Help Me Grow
• Sales Genius: Food Category - Sweet Stop
• Sales Genius: Handicrafts Category - KiddiEssentials
La Vie Institute winners -
• Most Persuasive: Little Chef Nuggets
• Most Energetic: Crafty Chicks
I personally saw and witness these little entrepreneurs in action! Gaad, they have exceptional selling skills. Iba!! Naalala ko tuloy when I was still the one manning our pop-up store and personally do all the sales-talk too! Ang sarap-sarap lang talaga din ng feeling each time there's a successful closed sale, haha!
These children have a huge potential and this kind of activity is such a genius. Hoping there would be more of this kind of activities at the Commercenter in the future.
